Early Life
She was born as Naomie Melanie Harris to Carmen Harris and Brian Clarke on 6th September 1976 in Islington. Her mother was a screenwriter as well as a healer while her father was a fashion designer. Harris’ parents separated before her birth, so she was raised by her mother alone and didn’t share any bond with her father. She has two stepsiblings.
She previously attended St Marylebone School and was also studying acting at Anna Scher Theatre. She then attended Woodhouse College after which she transferred into Pembroke College from where she graduated with a social and political science degree. She had also trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

Naomie Harris first appearance in television was as a child actor in the 1987 series “Simon and the Witch”. She played Joye in the series for twelve episodes when she was about eleven years old. She then made an appearance in the 1989 series “Erasmus Microman” as Mille for an episode. In 1992, she played Shuku in the adventure series “Runaway Baby”. She was in the series for seventeen episodes.
Her next television appearance was in the year 1992 as Ami Jackson in “The Tomorrow People” for sixteen episodes. She was not active in television after the series until 2000 when she made a comeback in television from “Dream Team” as Lola Olokwe. In 2002, she was seen in four television acting roles; Tara Gray for an episode of “Trial & Retribution”, Clara for four episodes of “White Teeth”, Maggie Dunn in the television film “The Project” and Romana for two episodes of “Dinotopia”.
She was then seen in the television films, “Poppy Shakespeare” as the lead character, “Small Island” as Hortense Roberts” and “Blood and Oil” as Alice Omuka. Her last television appearance was in the 2010 series “Accused” as Alison Wade. She returned in television role from the ongoing series “The Third Day” as Helen.

Naomie Harris made her debut in film from a small role as a receptionist in “Crust” in 2001. She was then seen in “Living in Hope” as Ginny and “Anansi” as Carla in 2002. Her first major role in the big screen was in the 2002 horror film “28 Days Later” as Selena. The film received positive responses from both critics and audiences. It grossed over $82 million against a budget of just about $10 million.
She was featured in “Trauma” and “After the Sunset” in 2004. In 2006, she was one of the lead cast members in the 2006 film “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” as Tia Dalma.
